A.B. Williams Elementary School students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families,
agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the
responsibility for improved student academic achievement as well as describes how the school and
parents/families will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high
standards.


JOINTLY DEVELOPED

The families, students, and staff of Andrea B. Williams Elementary School developed this School-Family-
Student Compact for Achievement. Teachers provided home learning strategies, families suggested ideas

to fit their needs to assist learning, and students told us what they needed to help them learn better at
home. A Family Forum is held each year with families to review the Compact and offer feedback.
Families are also surveyed several times during the school year for input. Families are strongly
encouraged to provide comments at any time.


SAVANNAH-CHATHAM COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM’S GOALS:
The district’s goals are to ensure all students are college and career ready. Objectives:
A. To increase the percentage of students who have mastered the skill sets (whole child
development) necessary to be successful for first and second grade.
B. To increase the number of students who are powerfully literate, mathematically fluent,
and effective problem solvers in grades 2 through 8.

A.B. WILLIAMS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GOALS:
Andrea B. Williams Elementary aligns ourselves with the district’s goal of increasing the percentage of
students who have mastered the skill sets. We will strive to ensure students will be fluent in reading and
math as they embark on test-taking grades.
Andrea B. Williams Elementary will have a 3% increase in the overall CCRPI score for the 2024-2025
school year as measured by the following areas in the College and Career Performance Index: content
mastery, progress points and closing the gap in the Spring of 2025.
The number of third and fifth grade students reading within their level Lexile band will increase from
42% to 55% in third grade and 35% to 50% in fifth grade as measured by the Georgia Milestones
Assessment in the Spring of 2025.
The number of third and 5th grade students scoring in the Proficient range in Mathematics on the
Georgia Milestones Assessment will increase from 21% to 30% in third grade and 15% to 25% in fifth
grade in the Spring of 2025.

COMMUNICATION ABOUT STUDENT LEARNING:
The second-Grade team at Andrea B. Williams Elementary is committed to frequent two-way
communication with families about their child’s learning. Here is a list of some of the ways we
communicate with our families and students:
• Weekly Communication folders
• Weekly/ Monthly notes or phone calls
• Weekly Newsletters
• Updates on the school website and current grades in PowerSchool
• Classroom meetings
• Progress reports and report cards
• Family-teacher conferences (compacts will be reviewed)

ACTIVITIES TO BUILD PARTNERSHIPS:
Andrea B. Williams Elementary School offers ongoing events and programs to build partnerships
with families.

To help your child meet the district and school goals, the school, you, and your child will work
together to:

SCHOOL/TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Andrea B. Williams Elementary School will work with students and their families to support
students’ success in reading and math in the following ways:
• Provide teaching materials on inferencing, Numbers and Operations (math), and Reading
Comprehension.
• Provide students an opportunity to select independent reading level books to take home
to read.
• Provide flash cards: to practice addition and subtraction facts for math fluency and fry
words for reading fluency.
• Provide a writing self-monitoring rubric to be used to review all writing assignments.


PARENT/FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES:
We, as parents, will:
• Assist my child with the teaching materials in reading and math as provided by the teacher.
• Assist and listen to my child read books at or above their independent reading level.
• Drill students on basic addition/subtraction math facts and fry words for reading fluency
using flash cards.
• Review my child’s writing assignments using the writing self-monitoring rubric.


STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
I, the student, will:
• Complete teaching materials in Reading comprehension, inferencing, and Math skills.
• Read books at or above independent reading level with family member.
• Work on learning my basic addition and subtraction facts and fry words using flash cards.
• Review my writing with a family member using the self-monitoring rubric.
